Week 24


Greetings 1B Families,
1B, or should I say Corinth, had a wonderful time competing in field day today! Each scholar did their best and showed great teamwork! Thank you to all the parents who joined us and helped make the day a huge success.

Homework

Nightly: Read for 15 min. using the book bags and bubblegum math practice for 2 minutes, practice poem (The Swing by Robert Louis Stevenson)

Phonograms to practice nightly: u, ow, ay, ou, ar, oa, ea, o, e, a

Monday: blue, post, town, stay, grand, outside, dark and test B

Tuesday: band, game, boat, rest, east, son, sun and wkbk. pg. 47-49

Wednesday: review all words and wkbk. pg. 50-51

Thursday: read for 15 minutes

Friday: No school

Academics 

Idiom: An Apple A Day Keeps The Doctor Away

Poetry: The Swing by Robert Louis Stevenson

Spalding: Due to having no school on Friday, we will learn just 14 new words this week. On Wednesday, we will review all 14 words. On Thursday, we will have a test on all 14 words and 10 phonograms.

Tuesday: band, game, boat, rest, east, son, sun

Grammar/Writing: This week we will read and write about passages from Winnie-The-Pooh and A Child's Geography. We will continue learning how to identify and use adjectives. 

 Math: We will continue to explore place value as we identify the tens and ones in a given number as well as add a two-digit number to a one digit number without regrouping.

Literature: We will continue to read and respond to A Bargain for Frances. Please ensure that your child brings their copy to class. Thank you!

 History: We will begin our study on the Inca civilization. 
 Science: Students will continue learning more about the human body. This week we will focus on the circulatory system and the importance of exercise and good nutrition to it. We will also learn about the brain and nervous system.
