Spelling Bee Information
Dear Parents,
Dear Parents,
It is my pleasure to announce that Spelling Bee season is upon us! Your child will be participating in a class Spelling Bee during the week of November 18th. Please use the word list sent home with them on Friday to study and make sure to read over the Spelling Bee letter for important dates and details. It is not mandatory for your child to study at home, however we recommend that all children participate in the class bee! Please reach out to me at any time if you have questions or concerns.

Concert Information from Ms. Weddle:
Our Winter Concert is quickly approaching! It will be at Higley Center for the Performing Arts on November 20 th. Students’ attire for our performances is NOT school uniform. Gentlemen are expected to wear a plain white dress shirt, black pants, black socks and black closed toed shoes. Solid dark colored vests and ties are optional for gentlemen. Ladies are expected to wear a white top, black skirt, black tights and black closed toed shoes. Please have your first graders at Higley Center for the Performing Arts by 5pm.

Concert Attire Information
The PSO normally has a uniform exchange to help families with putting together concert attire, but they needed to move the date of the exchange for the Prep's awesome playoff game! Unfortunately the exchange is now after the concert, Nov. 20th. If you would like to use the uniform exchange, please email Deanna Carpenter at uniformexchangepso@gmail.com
The dress attire for the concert will be as follows:
Boys: Black pants, white dress shirt, black dress shoes, and black socks. Hair should be combed neatly.
Girls: Black skirt, white top, black tights, and black dress shoes. Hair should be pulled away from the face with no distracting adornment. Please follow the Archway Arete dress code for guidelines on jewelry.

Grammar/Writing: This week we will read narrative passages about Davey Crockett and Sacagawea and write sentences about both historical figures. We will also observe a classical painting called The Gleaners by Jean Francois Millet and identify nouns, verbs, adjectives, and, adverbs within the painting. We will use our observations to practice forming complete sentences.

Math: This week is all about shapes. Students will
recognize, describe, sort and makes patterns with 2 and 3 dimensional shapes.
Literature: We will continue to read Frog and Toad
Together. Please ensure that your child has their copy at

History: This week we
will continue our study of the Three World Religions. Students will continue to
learn about Judaism and learn about the special holidays this religion
celebrates.
Science: The students
will complete their unit on oceans, finishing up by learning about an ocean
food chain. They will then start a unit on matter, becoming familiar with the
three states of matter.
